New in 2008! In collaboration with the Dranoff Two Piano Foundation, the ACO is putting together a program that brings prize-winning world-class pianists and ACO musicians into schools and concerts that feature a performance of the ACO. And all of this designed around a program helping schools to meet Sunshine State Standards for Music!
Based in Miami, the Dranoff Two Piano Foundation hosts the biennial Dranoff Two Piano Competition, the world’s premiere competition for piano duos. As part of the Dranoff’s mission, their A Family of Music Lovers Education Program brings prize winning duos into the Dade County Schools- to date, more than 5,000 students have participated.
Teaming up, the ACO and the Dranoff are working on a program in 2009 that will bring a prize winning duo and members of the ACO into elementary schools in both Dade County and on the Treasure Coast. These in-school visits will afford students an incredible opportunity to not only hear world-class musicians in an intimate setting, but meet and interact with them. The grand finale and follow-up to in-school visits will be a concert featuring the ACO and piano duo in a concert featuring Saint-Saëns charming Carnival of the Animals.
All of the above activities will be linked to a curriculum that allows teachers and schools to meet Sunshine State Standards for Music.
This is a unique opportunity for both schools and students and we look forward to the opportunity to better serve the Treasure Coast community!
If you are a school district or school that would like to either schedule an in-school visit or take part in one of our concerts featuring the ACO as part of our Duetto Arts Education Initiative, please contact ACO Executive Director Larry Kopp by clicking here.
