The ACO’s 2012 “An International Palette of Music” Season Subscriptions on sale now
Classical music lovers can embark on an adventure with the Atlantic Classical Orchestra and Maestro Stewart Robertson for its 2012 “International Palette of Music” Subscription series. Season tickets are on sale now and subscribers are encouraged to renew by the June 1 deadline to retain their 2011 seats.
Maestro Stewart Robertson will once again lead the ACO into its 22nd year with a recently signed three-year contract renewal, heartily endorsed by the Board of Directors and ACO supporters. In addition to his return, the ACO has recently hired Matthew Stover as the Executive Director. Stover recently served as Executive Director of The Jackson Symphony in Tennessee. There he helped to usher in record-breaking sales and fundraising.
The season opens Thursday, January 5 in Vero Beach and Friday, January 6 in Stuart with Mozart’s Symphony No. 28. This performance also features young pianist and Treasure Coast native, Lindsay Garritson performing the Camille Saint-Saëns Piano Concerto No. 2. The concert ends with Mendelssohn’s famous “Italian” Symphony, Symphony No 4.
Mendelssohn’s famous Overture, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, begins Program II (February 2, 2012 in Vero Beach; February 3, 2012 in Stuart) followed by Barber’s beloved and adored Adagio for Strings. The highlight of this performance is Robert Schumann’s seldom heard but equally important and beautiful Overture, Scherzo and Finale. The performance finishes with Beethoven’s slender and lyrical, Fourth Symphony.
Program III (February 29, 2012 in Vero Beach; Friday, March 2, 2012 in Stuart), features world-renown violinist, Elmar Oliveira performing the wonderful but rarely heard Schumann Violin Concerto in D Minor. Other pieces include Mozart’s Overture to The Marriage of Figaro, Gerald Plain’s Clawhammer, and Franz Schubert’s Symphony no. 2.
The final concert (March 29, 2012 in Vero Beach; Friday, March 30, 2012 in Stuart),opens with the light-hearted and energetic Rossinni overture from the operatic farce, Il Signor Bruschino. ACO’s principal bass, Luis Gomez, will perform Serge Koussevitzky’s melodious and sometimes lyrical, Double Bass Concerto. The highlight of the concert features Copland’s popular Appalachian Spring. Richard Wagner’s intimate and emotional Siegfried Idyll, sets up the conclusion of the ACO’s 2012 Season with a performance of Jacques Ibert’s joyous, toe-tapping Divertissement.

Vero Beach performances are presented at the Waxlax Center for the Performing Arts on Saint Edward’s Campus (1895 Saint Edwards Drive, Vero Beach). Stuart performances are presented at the Lyric Theatre (59 SW Flagler Avenue, Stuart).
