1. Where were you born? Tell us a little about your youth and upbringing?
I was born in Arad, Romania. I started playing the violin at age 6, and at age 9 I left home and moved to the neighboring city Timisoara in order to attend the "Ion Vidu" National Art College.
2. Earliest musical memories?
I remember going to all the classical concerts in my city and being fascinated with the musical instruments and the sound of the orchestra.
3. Your education? Where did you attend college, primary teachers?
I came to US when I was 19 years old to attend The Harid Conservatory in Boca Raton and received my Bachelor's Degree after studying there for four years with Sergiu Schwartz. I also hold a Master Degree from Boston University, where I studied with Peter Zazofsky and Malcolm Lowe.
4. Why did you choose your instrument?
I chose to play violin because I used to listen to my older sister practice at home and it seemed like fun.
5. When did you know you wanted to be a professional musician?
I have always wanted to become a professional musician, or at least as far back as I can remember.
6. Who were/are your most important musical influences?
There are so many teachers, conductors and musicians that helped me along the way that it is very difficult to pick up just a few.
7. Most inspiring composers?
Brahms, Shostakovich & Verdi.
8. What would you be if not a musician?
Psychologist.
9. Your favorite thing about playing in the ACO?
Playing in the ACO is very satisfying on many levels, both musically and personally. I particularly love the repertoire chosen by our Music Director Stewart Robertson, repertoire that combines some of the most famous orchestral works with lesser known but very interesting pieces of music.
10. With what other ensembles do you perform/where do you teach?
Some of my regular orchestra jobs in the area are: Palm Beach Opera Orchestra, Palm Beach Symphony, Palm Beach Pops, Klezmer Company Orchestra. I have also been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to tour throughout Europe and Asia with the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra, which last summer was directed by Joshua Bell and Gabor Takacs-Nagy
11. What is in your CD player right now?
Schubert piano music.
12. What do you like to do outside of work/hobby/pastime(s)?
Traveling, swimming, reading & cooking.
