1. Where were you born? Tell us a little about your youth and upbringing?
Born in Moscow, Russia. My parents were both musicians, so music surrounded me everywhere and in everything, and apparently it did not prompt any resistance which led to an obvious choice of my future career path.
2. Earliest musical memories?
My dad taking me to live orchestra rehearsals. Also, as my father was working with the opera orchestra, as a tiny boy I was often seated in the orchestra pit right behind the conductor in a missing spotlight niche during live opera and ballet performances.
3. Your education? Where did you attend college, primary teachers?
Most of my education was completed in Russia. Moscow Conservatory and before that Gnessin School. Primary teachers: Maya Glejarova, Erik Friedman. Also, masterclasses with Isaac Stern, Yehudi Menuhin.
4. Why did you choose your instrument?
I don't know. I guess I just fell in love with violin early and strongly enough not to ever question that choice.
5. When did you know you wanted to be a professional musician?
My first ever public performance at age 8. The emotional rush of being on stage and feeling that gratifying sense of connection with the audience. I instantly wanted that to be a constant part of my life.
6. Who were/are your most important musical influences?
My late father, playing for Isaac Stern and watching and listening to Yehudi Menuhin perform live!
7. Most inspiring composers?
The ones I am performing at any given moment.
8. What would you be if not a musician?
A chef.
9. Your favorite thing about playing in the ACO?
Nearly unlimited repertoire possibilities, the highest level possible of intimate chamber music experience while playing in an orchestra.
10. With what other ensembles do you perform/where do you teach?
Concertmaster - Hartford Symphony Orchestra
Adjunct Professor - The Hartt School, University of Hartford
Also, Boston Symphony Orchestra (Associate Member)

Classical: Wide range from Glenn Gould performing Bach to Michael Tilson Thomas/San Francisco Symphony's Mahler Cycle. Also, Queen (conservative, I know :-) ..but I am a huge fan).
12. What do you like to do outside of work/hobby/pastime(s)?
Cooking (and eating too) - traveling - electronics junkie (that's me).
