Musical Feast January 26 2011

Feast Your Ears with Music

Stuart Friends of Atlantic Classical Orchestra

Present Musical Evening

The Stuart Friends of the Atlantic Classical Orchestra (ACO) are delighted to announce their plans for a January fundraising event, “A Musical Feast”. They have been meeting regularly to plan an extraordinary evening of entertainment and fundraising  on Thursday, January 26 at Harbour Ridge Yacht and Country Club beginning at 6:00 pm.

“We are planning a wonderful evening of music, conversation and friendship that will be a not-to-be-missed event,” stated Carrie Philipbar, the newly appointed President of the Stuart Friends.

The evening will honor Grammy-award nominee Maestro Stewart Robertson, the Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Atlantic Classical Orchestra, who will be returning for his 8th season with the ACO. A unique twist to the evening will be the opportunity for sponsors and their guests to have dinner with Stewart and Meryl Robertson or internationally known pianist Peter Pertis and his wife Aggie. Others will enjoy sharing their table with members of the orchestra, giving them the chance to get to know the professional musicians who play in the orchestra.

During the off-season, Scottish-born Robertson travels from his home in California to conduct national and international orchestras. He was recently named Music Director Emeritus of Glimmerglass Opera in Cooperstown, New York, a professional summer opera company in recognition of the phenomenal musical growth the company achieved under his direction over the past two decades.

Another special ingredient of the musical feast will be the presence of Peter Pertis, the internationally renowned Hungarian pianist who lives in Martin County and Budapest. Following the gourmet dinner, guests will move to the lounge area for Viennese desserts and a private recital by Mr. Pertis.

Mr. Pertis is a fifth-generation disciple of the great Hungarian pianist and composer Franz Liszt. His Hungarian roots and Hungarian-European education were enriched with new impressions in Japan and his artistic palette gained new colors after he settled in the U.S.  Pertis has played in more than 50 cities in 22 countries and on five continents to rave reviews.

Thank you for your interest in the ACO. This event is closed. For more information, please call the ACO affice at 772-460-0850.
