Caroline Goulding Plays to a Full House on Return Performance
The final concert of the season featured the teenage violin prodigy Caroline Goulding, age 18, performing Bruch’s Violin Concerto. The incendiary virtuosity and lyric romanticism of the music was an ideal choice for Ms. Goulding's talent. The audience gave her a standing ovation. w “She is truly a younger version of Hilary Hahn and as she continues to mature, her skills and reputation will continue to rise, “ commented Stewart Robertson, music director of the ACO. A past recipient of the Stradivari Society, Caroline currently plays the General Kyd Stradivarius (c.1720), courtesy of Jonathan Mould.
Wilmington Trust hosted a drinks, dessert and sandwiches reception immediately following the performance at the new Lyric Flagler Center, just one block away. Guests enjoyed meeting Caroline Goulding and her parents Sandra and Mark Goulding. It was also an opportunity to say goodbye for now to conductor Stewart Robertson and his wife, Meryl. Not to worry, Stewart will be returning in 2011 for three more years. The board recently renewed his contract. One can expect a great season with Stewart Robertson and Matthew Stover's expertise.
